Pavé Specialty Bakery, established in 1992, is becoming a downtown Everett institution.
It's a bakery, a catering hub and a soup, salad and sandwich hot spot.
It is worthy of such status?

Except for eating some corned beef and cabbage a couple of times, a Port St. Lucie resident said corned beef isn't something he eats regularly.
But Chris Merchant was expected to get his fill of it earlier this week, when he participated in the TooJay's World Corned Beef Eating Championship in Palm Beach Gardens on St. Patrick's Day.
To win the $5,000 first prize, Mr. Merchant had to eat more corned beef sandwiches in 10 minutes than some champion eaters.
"I think I'm a fast eater," Mr. Merchant sai

I've been saying for a really long time that television and movies and music and video games are screwing up the youth of this nation.
Kids are exposed almost from birth to so much sex and violence and drug/alcohol use in all forms of media that the line between reality and fantasy, which is very blurred in young children, is staying blurred longer and longer.
When we have 12 year olds shooting people to death and then going to school as if nothing happened, you know they can't grasp the reality of the cr

St. Clair Child and Youth Services is once again taking orders for its 19th annual Box Lunch Social.
About 2,000 lunches are made every year, complete with either a ham and cheese or egg salad sandwich on a kaiser, a drink, fruit, cookies, a small prize and the famous Lunch Box Pickle.
Deliveries are made across the county, said Cheryl Cassin, a community relations coordinator.

Some contrasts are involved.
Among pubs, like-for-like retail sales growth of 2.4% comprised just 1.4% for liquor, with food up 5.3% as the main driver "following a review of our food offer".
I can testify to this, being surprised last weekend at the high quality of a lunchtime steak sandwich and salad leaves (costing six pounds or so) in a Shepherd Neame outlet.

You won't find a finer cheesesteak sandwich than those Philadelphia native Lee McLaughlin serves in Irmo, perhaps even in the city of brotherly love itself.
The steak special is made with thinly chopped beef, butchered in-house daily, and is sautéed with mushrooms, onions and your choice of peppers: sweet and/or hot.
Served with melted American or Provolone cheese on an Italian roll with a thin, crisp crust and a soft interior to soak up the juices.

JIM OLEXA/SUN NEWS George Hamway, owner of Chicago Deli, invites you to try, clockwise from bottom left, a cheese blintz, a corned beef sandwich, or shish tawook over rice.
Each time I visit Chicago Deli in Solon, I'm torn whether to forget about cholesterol and order eggs, get a stacked Reuben or corned beef, or go light with a salad, or count calories and settle for veggie stir-fry.
Then there's one more dilemma: I love Mediterranean food, and owner George Hamway is Lebanese and has a dozen or so Medi

Shockoe Bottom resident Kevin Glicker was found dead at his apartment this morning of a self-inflicted City Dog hot dogs wound to the stomach, police said.
The 32-year-old mortgage banker was discovered by his girlfriend shortly after 7 a.m., naked and sprawled on his bathroom floor with a receipt for $22.30 from the popular Shockoe Slip eatery – all of it for food - tucked in his rear jeans pocket.
"To think that for only $7 a person can purchase two chili dogs with fries at City Dogs, and that he sp
The human body is simply not built to withstand more than two City Dogs hot dogs in one sitting, despite their deliciousness. -Thomas Berry
